Submission guidelines

Article manuscripts should be submitted electronically as Microsoft Word files (.doc). The author's name should not appear on the manuscript in order to facilitate anonymous reviews. Manuscripts will be read by at least two referees and under conditions of anonymity as far as possible. The reviewers have four choices: accept, conditionally accept, revise and resubmit, reject.

Articles should be double-spaced (this includes indented quotes, footnotes, and bibliography). Footnotes and bibliography should follow the KH stylesheet

Accompanying image files, audio files, video files and other digital files should be sent by email if they are under 5 MB. If larger, they should be sent separately by mail on a CD-ROM or DVD or made available on a FTP server to be downloaded by the managing editors.

Romanization should follow McCune-Reischauer for Korean (although the New Official Government System (2000) is also accepted), the Pinyin romanization system for Chinese, and Hepburn for Japanese.

All articles must include a bibliography and a glossary of relevant Korean (and Chinese or Japanese) names and terms. It is not necessary to include han’gŭl and/or characters for well-known place names in the glossary (such as Seoul or Kyŏnggi-do). Korean personal names should be romanized according to the stated preference of the bearer of the name and followed in parentheses by the name romanized according to the system used in the article (e.g. Park Chung Hee [Pak Chŏnghŭi]) for the first appearance only. Han’gŭl and Chinese characters should appear in the text of the article, footnotes, and bibliography (please use Unicode fonts).

Copyrights

Submission of a paper will be taken to imply that it is unpublished and is not being considered for publication elsewhere, as well as that the author will automatically agree that upon acceptance of the article its copyright is owned by Korean Histories

Permissions

Contributors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce any materials, including and in particular photographs, illustrations, audio and video files, for which they do not hold copyright and for ensuring that the appropriate acknowledgements are included in the manuscript.
